Our investigative journalism workshops are designed to equip entry-level and mid-career journalists with the essential tools, methods and skills of investigative reporting. Workshop draw on a historic sweep of consequential investigations across the globe to give journalists a sense of their place as significant actors at the intersection of people and policy. Workshops are either commissioned by corporate media organizations, academic institutions, civil society organizations or organized by the foundation on scheduled basis.
This is designed for media professionals who seek an immersive workshop experience in documentary video storytelling, audio storytelling, photojournalism, mobile journalism and the latest trends in multimedia storytelling. The intensive, hands-on training environment introduces participants to planning strategies, content gathering, composition, recording, interviewing techniques for character-driven storytelling and non-linear editing with different software. Our boot camps are part of ongoing projects by the foundation or organized based on requests.
Based on a track record of telling important public interest stories that have won numerous international awards and significantly affected policy in different countries, founder Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his production team have designed this program specifically for journalists who have a working experience in storytelling to advance their skills through specialized reporting and documentary production – including writing, editing, digital production, research skills, investigative techniques and data journalism that will help add breadth and depth to their storytelling.
The foundation’s community outreach programs encompass a range of interventions and approaches aimed at creating a bridge between our work with journalists and the immediate communities where they work. Our approaches include outdoor screenings of documentary films, educational roadshows, community meetings, training and sensitization sessions with traditional authorities and local government representatives, street theatre and other cultural activities. These programs are tailored for the communities where we operate.
The foundation uses techniques on maintaining professional long-term relationships online. We imagine a committed and lengthy relationship takes dedication, readiness to adapt, the ability to think about the future and ensure the other party involved is happy for years to come. This applies to our social media engagement approaches – one that we keep refining every day.
